Police discover 24,000kg of indian hemp in kano



The Kano State Police command has discovered 24, 000kg of Indian
hemp worth N60 million in a house at Ja’een Yamma area in Sharada
quarters, Kano.
The commissioner of Police, Muhammad Katsina, made this disclosure on
Friday in Kano while presenting the drugs before the media.
He said that three suspects had been arrested in connection with the crime
while the principal suspect and owner of the drug one Yusuf Ali, was now at
large.
"The house serves as depot for dangerous drugs as marijuana, cocaine,
depressants and other dangerous intoxicants.
"It also serves as hideout for criminal gangs who consume these intoxicating
drugs; get high and attack innocent people," he said.
Katsina said the police also arrested one Sani Ibrahim at Unguwa uku
quarters, who transport Indian hemp from Benin City to Kano.
He said that the police 'special ambush squad' also arrested 20 suspected
drug dealers and consumers at Sabon Gari market.
The Commissioner said the suspects were arrested between November 1 and November 12.
He listed items recovered from them include, 28 cartons of 200mg of
tramadol tablets, 10 cartons of 100mg of the same product and 13 cartons of assorted intoxicants.
He urged the public to continue to cooperate with security agents in their
efforts to rid the state of criminals and criminal activities.
